About Us

We give presentations and demonstration all over the world. Most recently We gave a series of presentations at Exchange 2006 in Las Vegas and at Progress Technology World 2006 in Athens.

Next up is Exchange 2007 in Phoenix and then, later in the year, Progress Technology World in Brussels.

Exchange 2007 - Phoenix 10th to 13th June 2007

Adam - Performance Tuning Made Easy
3:15pm - 4:15pm on Monday 11th
During this presentation we’ll cover the basics of system and database setup to work optimally with OpenEdge. Different OpenEdge applications will require different settings for database parameters. You’ll explore the most commonly used and misused options and learn why they are important as well as how to set them properly.

Adam - Advanced Performance Statistics
11:15am - 12:15pm on Wednesday 13th
You have tuned your system using the general guidelines but are still wondering if you can squeeze another few percent out of it. In this session, database administrators will learn what all those vst and promon statistics mean and how they can be used to identify potential performance improvements.

Tom - Simulating User Load
2pm - 3pm on Monday 11th
One of the challenges of managing complex systems is determining how they will behave as changes are being made. Changes in user load, changes in hardware, and changes in application software, changes to the schema or configuration of the database and even small and seemingly innocuous changes to tunable parameters all have enormous potential for unexpected (and decidedly negative) consequences. Properly testing the impact of such changes is often seen as "too complex" or "too expensive."  This session will present a simple and effective approach to simulating a realistic work load and tools for doing the same that can bring this complexity under control. No costly testing tools required!

Tom - Highly Parallel Dump & Load
11:15am - 12:15pm on Wednesday 13th
Migrating to a new release of OpenEdge doesn't require a dump and load of your database, but getting the maximum benefit from new features often does. In this session we will highlight OpenEdge Database features that benefit from a dump and load, cover several alternative approaches to dump and load and then develop a specific process for migrating databases in a highly parallelized manner that takes maximum advantage of machine resources. This session will include live demonstrations and take-away code that you can immediately put to use migrating and upgrading your own systems.

Paul - Using ProDataSets and WebClient for Robust B2B Applications
8:00am - 9:30am on Wednesday 13th
Using ProDataSets and WebClient for Robust Business-to-Business (B2B) Applications shows the developer the ABL underpinnings for writing an effective and efficient B2B application. During this session you’ll learn how to take advantage of the state-free AppServer and how data can be passed via ProDataSets from client to AppServer to preserve context. The presentation will take a legacy top-down version 6 application and convert it to a WebClient application using ProDataSets. Developers will be interested in the tricks and techniques we’ll uncover for separating business logic from user interface logic. In addition, a pertinent discussion on whether to place a particular type of business logic on the WebClient or on the AppServer will be addressed.
