In January of 2000, John Campbell came to Pueblo and trained my development staff on Progress version 9 and ADM2. John did a great job of getting my developers up to speed so we could make the jump to the new version. In July of 2001, we had Adam Backman come to Pueblo for a week of UNIX Admin training. With only one week of Adam’s training we were able to make a very smooth transition. In November of 2001, we hired Adam to help us configure our first SAN.  The new SAN provided us with a fivefold performance improvement over our old environment. Adam also helped us negotiate the final cost of the SAN, and he saved us about $20,000 on the purchase.

In November of 2004, we had Adam come to Pueblo to help us implement a disaster recovery plan for our Progress databases. We realized right away that we could not afford the price of real time data replication software, so Adam wrote us a UNIX scripting solution that replicates all of our twenty five databases to a disaster recovery site across town every two hours. In less than a week Adam had the whole system up and running. Since that time we have had to failover twice, and the system has worked flawlessly.

Two years ago, Adam helped me negotiate some Progress licensing issues. Adam took our issues up the president of Progress Software, and we were able to get the type of licensing that we needed without breaking the bank. This again saved me more money than I paid out to White Star for services.

We continue to have Adam come down every year and fine-tune our databases and disaster recovery system. Of all the expenditures that I make every year, I feel that the White Star consulting fees have the greatest return on investment.”
